Copernicus has triggered significant activities in the field of EO related services and products, thus contributing to create new companies and reinforce existing ones. Thanks to a very incentive free data policy, Copernicus supports growth and strengthens the competitiveness and sustainability of enterprises in the European Union. In a context of increasing competition, these enterprises need to export their capabilities and plug into new market usually located overseas. The overall objective of this action is to support internationalization of the European EO capability for the maritime domain. This will be done by increasing awareness of international maritime opportunities to the EO community.

The action will prepare the internationalization of European companies active in the EO with the aim to reinforce their competitiveness and increase their sustainability. It will be carried out with a bottom up approach at the regional level by setting up the following dedicated event:

  • analyse how Copernicus can benefit companies to address markets in maritime domain
  • showcase the latest innovation of European EO capabilities for the maritime sector
  • present market opportunities in different overseas maritime countries (Australia, Chile, South Africa and Japan in particular), and
  • discuss and validate a strategy for internationalization

At this stage, this is a pilot action with an event that is planned to be replicated as a roadshow at different locations (Brest and Nantes) in two of the most maritime-oriented regions (Brittany and Pays de la Loire) in France in order to reach the largest audience. If successful, this could be duplicated in other locations in France, but also elsewhere in Europe with the support of the FPCUP partners.

Outputs and Results

  • Full day workshop (2x) (including topics like: Copernicus benefits for addressing markets in the maritime domain; internationalization and diversification of European Earth Observation)
  • Results and outcomes of this activity is based on IDEEO, a European COSME Go international project that aimed at preparing actions in the field of Earth Observation applications
  • At least 50 participants are expected for each event
