Forest management can benefit from Earth observation (EO) through applications like tree species classification, trend analysis, and damage assessments. However, the adoption of remote sensing techniques in forestry varies due to limited awareness and training among professionals, as well as inadequate financial and technical resources.

To address this, the Copernicus on the Job - Forestry action aimed to develop and evaluate a training program for forestry practitioners in Germany and Austria, focusing on the utilization of Copernicus services and satellite data to enhance operational forestry practices and increase their use in the field. The training utilized a blended format, combining e-learning for basics and a face-to-face seminar for in-depth demonstrations and discussions, allowing participants to learn both individually and in a group setting. The online workshop was conducted on 9 March 2023 by Terranea, where 19 participants attended. During the in-person seminar at the Forest Faculty of the Technical University of Munich, Freising-Weihenstephan on 23 March 2023 eleven participants attended and got an introduction to CODE-DE, available data and tools, data search, data download and processing. Overall, the participants gave good feedback, which was assessed by a survey after the seminar.
