Latvian Geospatial Information Technology Conference

To increase the Earth Observation / Copernicus literacy among the Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) professionals, experts and potential end-users from the Baltic countries; to improve their knowledge to better recognize the potential of Earth Observation (EO) tools and products, including Copernicus, leading to more informed decision-making, innovative and more efficient management and business responses; and to showcase the development stage of EO-based services, products and potential applications for different industries.

The activity foresees the organization of the Latvian GIT conference - a one-day event dedicated to GIT and EO, particularly focusing on the following topics:

  • Open source data and technologies;
  • Earth Observation and the Copernicus program;
  • Copernicus data and services;
  • Interdisciplinary EO applications and solutions;
  • GIT and EO for non-traditional education opportunities.

To provide a broader perspective of current trends in the world and innovations in the GIT and EO fields, numerous experts from Latvia and abroad will present their lessons learnt. The keynote speakers will represent the international GIT and EO front-runners, including Google, European Space Agency and others. The conference will consist of presentations, open discussions, networking sessions and an exhibition of GIT and EO-based solutions.

The conference will be organized by the partnership of Latvian GIS Association and the Institute for Environmental Solutions (the Caroline Herschel FPA partner and Copernicus Relay and Academy in Latvia).
