International Conference – Copernicus Data in Nature Protection



One-day international workshop for the community members from national parks and other nature protection institutions. This action is a conference event to inform the community of nature protection institutions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia about new trends and new Copernicus monitoring services. The main aim is to raise awareness and hands on training about the progress in Copernicus programme operation and Copernicus data Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2.

The event will be organized as follows:

  1. First part/Morning: Introduction of Copernicus data and services in environmental monitoring, Success Stories presentation
  2. Second part/Afternoon: Hands-on training on Sentinel data

Implementation will be carried out by National secretariat of GEO/Copernicus in the Czech Republic (NSGC) which is coordinated by the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic. Charles University is a regular member of NSGC, therefore the university will be main organiser in cooperation from other regular members. There will be a close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic and Slovak Environment Agency.

Outputs and Results

  • There will be involved and hands-on skilled more than 20 persons from institutions of nature protection from the Czech Republic and Slovakia
  • A broader awareness about Copernicus services and data; hands-on skills based on training material and presentations
