Video Presentation about EO Methods for Urban Resilience

On 17 May 2021, the BEYOND Centre of EO Research and Satellite Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens organised the forth webinar of the Beyond Dialogues series. The webinar was entitled "City Dynamics Monitoring for Urban Resilience" and held by Dr. Nectarios Chrysoulakis.

The presentation described how advanced earth observation methods are utilised for urban climate, urban planning and Big Data analysis in cloud computing infrastructures. During his presentation, Dr. Chrysoulakis highlighted

  • How urbanisation and the evolution of technology affect climate change and
  • How the effects of climate change affect populations, their vulnerability and adaptability.

In the end, there was an extensive discussion with participants regarding the future of research in urban climate.

The webinar has been carried out in the framework of the Action "Greek Training Activities at NOA" and has been implemented in collaboration with PRAXI Network/FORTH. It aims to bring together the Greek scientific community involved in space and to introduce possibilities offered by space and space applications in various fields of science and society.
